The Dandie Dinmont Terrier is not a 'yappy' breed and does not normally bark excessively. Dandies have an amazingly deep and loud bark (particularly the males), which can make them deceptively good guard dogs.

Dandies need to be brushed regularly. Their topcoats allow you to brush dirt off easily. However, they probably need to be professionally groomed 3 to 4 times a year to keep them looking smart.
